On Thursday, 5 September 2024, Judge President Thoba Poyo-Dlwati of the High Court in Pietermaritzburg approved a plea and sentence agreement between Dr Gastón Savoi and the State, which brings an end to the criminal prosecution against him, Intaka Tech (Pty) Ltd and Mr Fernando Praderi, which started almost 15 years ago.
All charges against Intaka Tech (Pty) Ltd and Mr Praderi have been withdrawn. Mr Selwyn Solomon will assume the role of independent non-executive director of the company inasmuch as Dr Gastón Savoi and Mr Fernando Praderi have both stepped down as directors.
This marks a milestone in Intaka Tech’s history in that the company has endured a curatorship for almost 15 years, something that most companies would have folded under in a matter of months. Intaka persevered and expanded its product range from PSA Oxygen Concentrators to full medical gas systems including that of suction and medical air plants and medical gas pipeline reticulation systems. During the hard lockdown and peak of the Covid-19 pandemic, Intaka was instrumental in saving hundreds of lives by supplying two large PSA oxygen concentrators at Malawi’s Kamuzu and Queen Elisabeth Central hospitals. Besides this significant feat, Intaka has provided numerous similar systems into our neighbouring countries (which includes the essential and necessary maintenance and operational support through service level agreements) namely:
- Malawi
- Lesotho
- Eswatini
- Mozambique
- Namibia, etc
Intaka Tech looks forward to a new chapter and taking its business prospects forward, serving the medical and industrial gas industry with its innovative products and services.
