Intaka Tech, having a wide footprint of gas generation systems in Malawi, was contacted by Nkhoma Hospital for a complete medical gas and vacuum system, along with a medical gas pipeline distribution network. The hospitals management put Intaka in contact with African Mission Health who oversaw the project.

Intaka Tech supplied a 21 Nm3/h PSA oxygen concentrator system comprising dual air compressors (duty and standby), a duplex 110 m3/h vacuum pump system, a 16 m3/h oxygen cylinder filling compressor complete with a 10-station oxygen cylinder filling manifold, as well as a 2 x 6 oxygen cylinder backup manifold. An existing building was identified as being suitable to house the equipment, where Intaka provided the client with building plans to alter the building to suite the equipment and safety requirements.

An extensive medical gas pipeline system of 2017 meters of piping was installed throughout the various wards in the hospital which comprised of 92 oxygen and 42 vacuum points, allowing for further future expansion of the distribution network.
