Shortly after Intaka Tech’s successful Covid-19 project response in supplying and installing a oxygen concentration plant at Blantyre’s Queen Elisabeth Central Hospital, the Malawian Ministry of Health in conjunction with UNICEF, initiated the second leg of the project to supply a 72 kg/h Oxygen Concentrator at Lilongwe’s Kamuzu Central Hospital.

The Intaka’s project team was pre-tested for COVID-19, and after spending time in isolation, the team was generously flown to Malawi by Alliance One International, to commence with the installation on the 5th October 2020 which included the oxygen concentrator system, vacuum systems, gas manifolds, oxygen cylinder filling plant and oxygen cylinders and some 200 meters of interconnecting medical gas piping. The hospital was previously piped by Intaka at just over 6000m of medical gas piping. An oxygen manifold (2 x 12), a medical air manifold (2 x 6), a nitrous oxide manifold (2 x 4) and an 8-station oxygen cylinder filling station was included with the installation. The supply of the equipment includes a 5-year preventative maintenance program. Intaka’s GPRS technology allows the company to view the machines performance in real time, and to make adjustment’s or take necessary actions as required.
