PSA Oxygen Generation Systems

In the ever-evolving landscape of healthcare, the demand for reliable and efficient medical oxygen supply systems has never been more critical. Pressure Swing Adsorption (PSA) medical oxygen gas generation systems (GGS) offer a sustainable and cost-effective solution for hospitals and healthcare facilities. Our customers in Sub-Saharan Africa benefit from the local manufacture as there is local backup and support available from our qualified Technical and Maintenance Teams.

Intaka Tech designs, fabricates, installs and maintains Oxygen Gas Generation Systems / GGS (PSA Generators) for customers in the health, chemical, metal processing and other industries.

Pressure Swing Adsorption (PSA) technology leverages the unique properties of adsorbents—materials that preferentially adsorb certain components from a mixture. In the case of medical oxygen generation, the primary adsorbent used is Zeolite Molecular Sieve. This material is specially designed to selectively adsorb nitrogen (N2) from atmospheric air, allowing for the extraction of high-purity oxygen (O2).

Intaka’s GGS’s occupies a niche market which is unique, in that it can produce between 1400 and 51 000 l/hr of medical oxygen at 93 % (v/v) purity.

The oxygen generation capacity rating of the unit is based on the output of a single compressor, with dual compressors, should a problem occur on any part of the primary system, the secondary system is activated with no degradation of service to the hospital.

All essential process parameters are monitored by Intaka Tech’s technical team and hospital staff using a telemetry option (GPRS), allowing early response to potential problems.

Containerized vs. Installed Systems

PSA medical oxygen systems are available in two primary configurations: containerized systems and those installed in a healthcare facility’s gas plant room.

Containerized Systems

Containerized PSA systems are modular and prefabricated units that can be easily transported and deployed in various settings. These systems are ideal for remote or temporary healthcare facilities, offering:

  • Portability: Easily relocated to meet changing needs.
  • Quick Deployment: Minimal installation time; can be operational within hours.
  • Self-Contained: Includes all necessary components, such as compressors, adsorbent chambers, and controls, in a single package.

Installed Systems

Installed PSA systems are typically housed within a designated gas plant room in a healthcare facility. These systems are characterized by:

  • Higher Capacity: Generally designed to meet the oxygen demands of larger hospitals or healthcare networks.
  • Customization: Tailored to the specific needs and layout of the facility, ensuring optimal performance and integration with existing infrastructure.
  • Increased Efficiency: Potential for enhanced energy efficiency and performance optimization through advanced control systems and monitoring capabilities.

Our custom designed vacuum systems are tailored to meet local and international standards and safety norms.

Vacuum systems are specialized setups designed to generate and maintain sufficient vacuum in hospital facilities. These systems consist of several components:
