The Clinton Health Access Initiative (CHAI), along with the Mozambican Ministry of Health (MISAU), through funding from the Global Fund, identified seven hospitals in different provinces of Mozambique for the design, supply, installation and commissioning of Medical Air, Oxygen, Nitrous Oxide and Vacuum Installations.

Intaka Tech was awarded two tenders, one for Tete Provincial Hospital in Tete Province and the other for the Chimoio Provincial Hospital in Manica Province. The projects were challenging in that both projects ran concurrently and Intaka successfully completed both projects in December 2025 and January of 2026.

The main lines for medical oxygen and vacuum were of ring-main architecture with valves on both sides of each spur, enabling sections of the central ring-main to be maintained/repaired without shutting down the hospital. The medical gas piping system included duplex Medical Air Plant and a medical air manifold, a Nitrous Oxide cylinder manifold, and a Triplex Vacuum Plant. The existing LOX supply was complemented with a new oxygen cylinder manifold. Both hospitals were also equipped with operational alarm panels, clinical alarms incorporated into AVSU’s (area valve service units), medical gas and vacuum Terminal Units (TU’s)/outlet points and bedhead trunking.
